I'm pleased to present ‘The Eye of the Tiger’, an acrylic painting completed for a new series called ‘Beyond Reality’. This will be showing for the first time along side 'The Missing Tiger' on stand 39 of The Other Art Fair, 24-27 April 2014, Ambika P3, Marylebone.

Determined to take my work into a new direction I decided to play with the image by cutting an imaginary circle in the painting and moving it to the left. Leaving in its place a black and white image of what was there before. The end result is an intriguing picture with endless possibilities for interpretation.

The title 'The Eye of the Tiger' makes reference to the previous painting, 'The Missing Tiger'. Both images are inspired by different photographs I took at Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park. It's up to the viewer to try to figure out how the two paintings are connected and what it may mean.

I'd like to encourage the viewers to look beyond what they see and engage with the painting making their own associations. The questions I'd like the viewer to think about are: What is there behind reality and behind a detailed representation of reality? What happens when you remove colour from reality? What happens when reality as you know it is transformed? Who is the tiger and where is it?

Showing in this slide show is the painting and some details of it. Enjoy!
